This Professional Development Workshop aims to prepare teachers for above elective. Teachers will get a Popular Culture Workshop Kit that will include sample lesson plans and resource materials designed to facilitate the teaching of NSS Learning English through Popular Culture.

1. Review the structure and content of this NSS elective
2. Review the learning targets of this elective
3. Evaluate a suggested scheme of work for this elective
4. Review authentic popular culture text types
5. Review the register (the style of language, grammar and words used in a situation) adopted by various popular media
6. Review strategies for discussing/debating issues on popular culture
7. Review strategies using popular culture to build basic speaking skills
8. Review assessment criteria for this NSS elective
