One of the hardest things is to get students to sit down and focus on learning. However, with Sounds of English's fun, interactive phonics program, students become actively engaged in their learning simply because they are enjoying themselves.
What is phonics? Phonics is simply the system of relationships between letters and sounds in a language. When a young English learner learns that the letter B has the sound of /b/ and later learns that "tion" sounds like /shun/, they are learning phonics.
Why is phonics important? Learning phonics will help your children learn to read and spell in English. Written language can be compared to a code, so knowing the sounds of letters and letter combinations will help your child decode words as he reads. Knowing phonics will also help your child know which letters to use as he writes words.
Tom and Bonzo
Another unique feature of Sounds of English is The Adventures of Tom and Bonzo.
These two fun characters feature in every lesson and utilise all the vocabulary used in the each lesson into an amusing narrative. As students' language skills develop so do the Tom and Bonzo stories.
