A gifted child, T.S. Spivet, with a passion for science, he invented a perpetual motion machine. One day, he receives an unexpected call from the Smithsonian Institution, that he has been awarded the prestigious Baird Prize. He leaves a note for his family and travels across the country to receive his award at the Washington D.C.
